Woodbine Announces Purse Increases for 2005 Woodbine Entertainment has increased purses by 5% in all allowance
races including maiden special weights for the 167 day meet which
opens on Saturday April 16th. In addition, purses in claiming races
going short and long distances are now racing for a new blended amount.
For example, $20,000 claimers that raced for $28,000 in sprints and
$31,400 in route races will now go for $29,300 at all distances. In
order to help owners defray some of the expenses incurred when starting
a horse, there will now be a $400 starting fee paid by W.E.G. to the
owner for each horse in each race that finishes out of the money (sixth
or lower). View Stakes Schedule Woodbine 2005
